Hit the Line
Joel W. Cade’s life is inextricably intertwined with Piqua High School’s entry into the OHSAA state playoffs. Joel was born into poverty, doubted, ridiculed at every turn, and given no chance to succeed by those around him. Piqua football too, entered the OHSAA playoffs with the deck stacked against them, set up to fail and given little chance of success. Both Joel and the Piqua Indians must face insurmountable odds to rise from the ashes and overcome all obstacles. Enjoy this gripping story of Joel’s and the Piqua Indians’ rise from ashes to greatness.


JOEL W. CADE
Joel W. Cade was born and raised in Piqua, Ohio where he met the love of his life – football. Having played for the Piqua High School Indians football team, Joel earned an athletic scholarship to play football at Olivet Nazarene University. He went on to coach football as a graduate assistant at the University of Notre Dame. His first book Hit the Line details his life growing up in Piqua, the incredible journey of the Piqua Indians’ entry into the OHSAA playoffs, and the culmination of his high school career against Cincinnati St. Xavier. Now Joel enjoys writing about football, talking football on his podcast, and watching football with his adult children.
